Brewing

Milling, Mashing, and Maturation--These are just some of the steps used to make the thick dark Guinness Stout and Guinness Draught. People confuse these two terms, but the main noticeable differences are in how they taste and how they settle. These two sub-classes of beers vary by the brewing process.

All of the steps and information has been taken from the official Guinness web site (Canada English). To see the ingredients that you need to make beer, click here. To see the process that goes into brewing beer, click here.

Ales and Lagers

Brewing Ale - Hops not included. Beer is usually brewed to combat the sweet taste by balancing it with bitter. Ale is now made lighter by adding little to no hops. There are different sub categories of ale drinks that can be made by using different types of malts to ferment the ale. If sweet is what you want then these are the types of brewing instructions to follow [1].

Brewing Lager - Lager is made similar to ale but is fermented at a lower temperature. There are only two types of logger, pale and dark [1].
